[Vadim Chernov]: Summer in the Siberian Expanse could actually be quite pleasant if you remembered to bring your own supplies, and with several trucks it was easy for the Conductor's crew to pause and unwind for an afternoon. Especially when former customers were trying to call for favors. Approximately five hundred kilometers from the northern border of Mongolia, Vadim's crew set up in their wagon circle around six in the morning. Pleasantries of sorts were unloaded; tables and pots, a small grill to make sure the men were fed. If it wasn't for the contents of the still loaded trucks it could look like a regular family picnic. The large redheaded Russian stood with his arms crossed over his chest, a cigar in one hand as he stared out over the road to the south. That was, after all, where he was told to expect her approach from.
XI Scarlett IX: Oh he would see her approach...Or someone at least, since there was a rather odd looking and very silent motorcycle approaching from the southern direction. The Military grade Jeep was making its way down the rather rocky expanse and towards the little gathering that had been set up. The driver was hard to see from the distance and there were no telling signs to give away by appearance. Still, the closer it got it would slow and then stop, parking and that driver would climb out of the vehicle. Black, BDU pants tucked into combat boots and bloused at the tops of those boots. A white wife beater with a black tactical vest over it and matching tactical cap atop head. All of that distinctive fire hair was tucked up beneath that cap and there didn't appear to be a weapon anywhere on her. But anyone that knew the woman knew that could be a deceptive thing to believe. Moving towards him those hands were kept at sides and stride loose and relaxed. "Vadim. Pleasure to see you again."
[Vadim Chernov]: "Business is business, Miss Scarlett. You were very vague in set up meet, even for secure line. I imagine is not in relation to current inventory, considering chosen method of travel." He peered around her for a moment, motioning to the jeep before taking another hit off the cigar. Puffing for a moment, he pushed the heavy smoke through his nose, stepping away from the truck and moving towards her. Pausing for a moment, he tilted his head to the side, stepping away again. "Come, is time for perimeter circle anyway, can walk and handle business. What are you in need of?"
XI Scarlett IX: "Afraid not my dear." Once she was within the secure area of the perimeter she'd reach up and remove that cap. Allowing all that long fire hair to cascade down back and swing free. "I've come to get some information and a bit of permission from you...Also some assistance." Slipping hands into the pockets of the BDU pants she'd move along with the larger Russian.
[Vadim Chernov]: "That is very tall order. I assume are not coming empty handed? Such commodities do not generally work on credit." Puffing away again, he exhaled straight up into the air like a locomotive's chimney, occasionally glancing out and into the distance for anything that looked like it could be coming their way. Most things knew better.
XI Scarlett IX: Smirking she glanced over to him and arched one rusty colored brow. "Have I ever come empty handed? I've brought you something very nice for all of this." Hands still in pockets she'd trail along with him, those eyes shifting about constantly as she watched everyone and everything she saw. "I need to know what you know about this band of pirates that have been lurking around this area. I also need permission to bring a force in and...possibly do some damage to some property in this region." Just waiting for him to ask.
[Vadim Chernov]: "Are fancying selves like Mongol horde, but with out leadership. Are annoying flies picking at carcass of lost Russian town and country. Are typically mix of mercenary and raider. Have no real organization, are all operating for selves in little groups. Makes them very annoying customers." He did, after all, sell to anyone that wanted to buy, so long as they didn't try to rob him blind. "So, are organizing action against a particular batch, dah?"
XI Scarlett IX: Pausing she turned a bit to look up towards him. "Dah. They've taken captive a friend of mine and stolen something...extremely valuable. If they figure out how to work it everyone here could be fucked." Pulling hands from pockets she'd fold them beneath chest. "I hope you've more customers because I intend for them to be put down like rabid mongrels."
[Vadim Chernov]: "It is fine, are typically small pockets, and unreliable at that." Taking a final hit off the stub of his cigar, he dropped it to a rock and crushed it under his foot. He let the plume out around him with a huff. "So, how big is force, and how much help are needing."
XI Scarlett IX: "I'm not sure how many men they have, I'll be doing surveillance on them once I've concluded my business here. There will be a couple others coming with me so..." Head tilted and she thought for a moment. "Let's say for now, five. If there is need of more you will be compensated accordingly. I'm also in need of a new scope for my rifle." There was a grin twitching at her lips. "You've always got the best so..Add that to my bill as well."
[Vadim Chernov]: "Are needing five of mine? Is very tall order. Hmm. Am assuming must have very fancy payment for such short notice..." Stroking at his thick but well trimmed beard, he paused at the end of one of the trucks. Checking the label on the gate of it, he continued on past it to the next truck, checking that label as well before opening the lock. "And which rifle are using these days, Miss Scarlett?"
XI Scarlett IX: "An upgraded version of the same I've always used. If it's not broken don't fix it eh?" Chuckling she'd move along behind him. "Mind having a couple of your boys get that big metal box out of my Jeep?"
[Vadim Chernov]: Sliding the gate up, he looked to the two boys with guns in the back, both dressed for riots with glasses and high scarves over their faces. "Kazimir, idi nekotoryye drugiye iy vygruzhat' etoy damy dzhip." Turning back to Scarlett he gave a nod as one of the men armed with the rather nicely maintained assault rifle hopped out and moved into the center of the camp to do as instructed. "Are hoping for range and magnification, or electrical acog?" He paused between the racks of boxes, waiting for her preference.
XI Scarlett IX: "Range and magnification. That way I can be as nosy as I like without having to get close." Smiling she leaned against the bed of the truck, arms folding beneath chest again. Once they had the box unloaded from the Jeep she'd push away from that lean. "Go ahead and get that and meet me by the box if you don't mind." Turning she'd move away from him and get to the box, propping one booted foot atop it and waiting for him to join her.
[Vadim Chernov]: It wouldn't take him long to return with a slim box a bit bigger than the familiar Redfield USMC scope. Cutting through the camp, he gave a nod to a few of the other men to come join along. Keeping the box in his gloved grip, he looked to the large case under her foot. "Is true then, dah? American woman are never travel light."
XI Scarlett IX: "Ohh my dear. You'd never let me leave if I traveled lightly today." Smirking she'd move the foot from the top of the case and crouch down. Twisting the combination locks on the front until they clicked and she could open the case. Inside it was filled with.....nearly two million dollars in small unmarked bills. "Is this sufficient?"
[Vadim Chernov]: There was plenty of murmuring from the gathered men about the case before Vadim tossed the smaller box over to the woman. With a little whistle, he called a huddle of the men, some armed, others not, but all trusted parts of his crew. With a few moments, he filled them in on what the money was for, and what the redhead was asking for. No question this was going to count as hazard pay. In short order, he had worked out the arrangements of the volunteers, specifically what was to be done with their cut if they didn't make it. Vadim was a trader, after all, not a warlord. Kazimir and a few others broke away, huddling around the back of the jeep while the other men returned to the camp. "It seems you have your little retinue." A moment later, the two that left came back with a dolly to collect the crate. "Is anything else I can assist with, Miss Scarlett, or is safe to say has been pleasure?"
XI Scarlett IX: As the men gathered around the back of the Jeep she'd nod to Vadim and wink one eye. "I think we've done a successful bit of trading my friend. It is safe to say has been pleasure." Extending her hand to him she'd nod. Shaken or not she'd gather up that hair afterwards and tuck it back beneath the cap then head for the Jeep. Letting the others get in so that she could head off with them to set up a camp and get on with the surveillance.
