Xavier Darnai: Things were starting to get busy all over the globe, but it was the States right now that seemed to rapidly becoming his next major campaign. Work in Reno, some in Seattle, and now a trip out to Los Angeles. He wasn't sure where he would be heading next, but being back in Boston meant a dinner at the Belyi to see if any new requests had come in, or at the very least seeing what might be crossing through there. Parking the Bishop in the back alley lot around the corner, he carried himself up the walk and through the door. He raised a brow a bit at the strange look that Natasha was giving him, but he still moved through the common area to take a seat at his preferred table. Sitting back in the chair, out came the cigarettes and he quickly lit up, watching the fire dance before he clapped the flip-top lighter shut.
XI Scarlett IX: He may be getting the strange look because the rather stylish red head had asked if he were already there. She knew this was his usual frequent and was by far not a stupid woman. Tonight's attire was quite different than what most would see her in. It was a mid thigh cocktail dress with a slit up the right side to near the hip, the bodice was fitted against breasts and kipped in at the waist. The shade was a deep emerald and matched the heels she wore. Rising from a seat at the bar she'd saunter on over to where he sat, laying one hand on the back of an empty chair and cocking a hip out. "Is this seat taken?"
Xavier Darnai: Times like this he considered the idea of an office. People already seemed to be able to find where he was, maybe what he needed was specific business hours. Not that he would keep them, or that they would. Rubbing the flat of his thumb against the side of is nose, rust red eyes stared up at the woman and her attire before motioning to the seat across from him. His foot pushed out the chair before resting over his knee with a quiet thunk. With another hit off the cigarette, he exhaled slowly before reaching out for the tray and pulling it closer. A tap of the cigarette against the side of the tray deposited the extra ash. "Seems to be at this point."
XI Scarlett IX: As the chair was pushed out she'd move from the lean against the back of it. Sliding it out a bit farther to slide down into it and cross one long leg over the other. "Why yes it does doesn't it?" That million watt smile of hers in full view even as hazel green eyes focused on his rusty red ones. Hands were folded in lap for the moment. "At least I'm giving you something pleasant to look at while you smoke." Moving one hand she'd tap a fingertip against the table top. "Buy a girl a drink?"
Xavier Darnai: The smile of hers was certainly bright enough to warm most hearts, but considering their loose affiliation he simply watched her take a seat. Resting his right wrist on the table for the moment, his bandaged left hand came up to try and flag a waitress down. "You've managed to catch me before I've had my first since I've landed." Drawing a slow breath, he motioned to her lightly with his right hand. "To what do I owe the visit." As a general rule, he did his damnedest to stay out of other's affairs, but on occasion it was unavoidable. He had a feeling this was about to be one of those cases.
XI Scarlett IX: "Oh nothing overly special. I just wanted to let you know that a certain little sparrow and boom box were returned safely." Once he managed to flag down the waitress? She would request a drink. "Caol Ila very little ice please." Yes, some things tended to rub off when spending a lot of time around people. After the order and the waitress departed she'd uncross legs and lean forwards slightly. Laying one arm across the table top while elbow of the opposite propped on it and chin was rested against thumb with index along cheekbone. "I also met someone...very interesting on my last business trip." That smile never shifted or faded in its intensity. Scarlett was the Master of facade.
Xavier Darnai: "I'll have the befstroganov and the Glenfiddich, fifteen year." Turning his attention back to Scarlett, he pulled another hit off the cigarette and gave a slight nod, exhaling slowly as he spoke. "Good, all clear without any issue then." A simple point of interest, his name was riding on this particular exchange without anything coming back to bite him over it. Reputation was the only thing that extended credit with some people. "And who might that've been. Vadim's got quite the collection've associates that he works with out that way. The Expanse takes all sorts."
XI Scarlett IX: "Oh it seems that he does." Leaning back in the seat, resting hands in lap once more as head canted slightly. Brow arching over one of those hazel green eyes. 'He's got someone that looks...remarkably like you actually." Without another word or sound she'd shift one hand to trail fingertips along the inside of her forearm.
Xavier Darnai: Raising one brow, he stared at her, noting the little drag over her arm as he sat back, dragging his thumb against his jaw line before taking another heavy hit of the cigarette. He swore he could fee the headache building up, and wit a slow exhale, he set the cigarette down and looked to her. "Right then. So, question is whether this's a courtesy call, or a curiosity call."
XI Scarlett IX: "Don't the two become mutual after a certain time?" As the waitress returned she'd fall silent on the subject. "Thank you love." Reaching for the drink she'd raise it for a sip before setting it down again. Once she had departed again Scarlett would look to Xavier and arch one brow. "How many and why?"
Xavier Darnai: "Depends on the subject, now doesn't it." Picking up his own glass, he brought it up for a quick sniff before taking a sip of the Scotch. Her question was straight forward enough, and there was some appreciation to that, but that didn't mean his answers would be as frank. "Not like I had a hand in them, so I couldn't say for sure how many're why, but you're not the first to ask me about them."
XI Scarlett IX: She had set the scotch tumbler on the table, keeping fingertips around the rim but just barely. "Seems then that there might be a bit of a quandary." Raising eyes from the tumbler to him again she'd simply stare at him for a moment. She had been taking lessons in that thousand yard stare from Snake apparently. "Do they have a purpose that you know of? Who created them?"
Xavier Darnai: Snake's gaze was sharp, but there was a trick to it, the subject had to have something to be afraid of, and that was sorely lacking in Xavier's case. Slowly stirring the tumbler in his left hand, he met that thousand yard stare with his own dead end gaze, lifting it to take a slow sip of the Scotch again before resting the base of the glass onto the table again. Tilting it on to one edge, he started to roll it around, letting the amber liquor coat the sides of the glass with each turn. "Seems they're being passed about to various mercenary groups, Pee Em See's, legitimate militaries for ghost programs, and whatever else someone's creative enough to use them for. As for who made them, they're a conglomerate, dark lab that I haven't pinned final ownership anywhere but themselves. Seems they're independents."
XI Scarlett IX: Oh she knew he wasn't afraid, there was never a question of her wanting him to be. Still she would listen to what he said and raise the glass for another sip, once it was lowered again corners of lips would twitch into a faint smile. "Would you like some assistance in that matter? Since this last business trip was the first in a long while..I find myself itching to go out of town again."
Xavier Darnai: "It's being managed." The answer came quickly as he looked down to his glass, raising it again for another slow sip. Closing his eyes for a moment, bandaged fingers began to tap against the glass in slow scales. Tik tik tak tap. "For obvious reasons I'm keeping this one a bit close to the chest." It was a fairly delicate matter, and on that was best served with some measure of privacy. If this sort of thing got out to too many, then more than just his cover would be blown.
XI Scarlett IX: "Of course. Perfectly understandable and I would proceed in the same manner if I were in your shoes." raising her glass to drain it she'd set it aside and push the chair back. Moving to stand as hands glided along hips and thighs to smooth out the skirt of that dress. "Do let me know if you'd like me to go on a trip though won't you? I find myself bored at times." Faint wink to him as she pushed the chair back up to the table. "Thanks for the drink."
Xavier Darnai: "Can't imagine that sort've thing'd be terribly well received, considering the nature of our mutual acquaintance. But if something does come up I think'd be a good fit for your enjoyment, I'll be sure to get word your way." Lifting his eyes to her again, he gave a slight nod and took another sip of the Scotch, just in time for his meal to arrive.
XI Scarlett IX: "Oh I know." Still she shrugged and turned to saunter off. "Enjoy your meal dear." As quickly as she had come she was gone, slipping out the door into the darkness. Time to do a bit of exploring on her own.
Xavier Darnai: Watching her go, he set the glass down and picked up his fork, spinning it around in his fingers once before tapping the blunt end of it against the table top. This was going to be a complication, he just wasn't sure of how much of one yet. He was sure Snake had his suspicions, but nothing actionable, or he'd have been visited earlier.
XI Scarlett IX: Scarlett was nothing if not a nosy woman, but she tended to seek out the answers to her questions as simply as possible. Though she knew that Xavier may or may not have been entirely truthful with her, betting on the latter. She'd slip into the drivers side of the Jeep and slip the burn phone from its holder. Sending of a coded text.
