Setting up the job had been challenging considering the timing of it all. Hex had been unreachable for a good period of time, and his second choice had been otherwise occupied in the Czech Republic for almost two months. As such, Xavier had relied on the slow transfer of rumor and word of mouth to create the grass roots movement needed to become a point of contact for the man known as 'Walkabout'. It was horribly cliche, but Gene Trullins was the man to speak with if there was a shipping interest running through Melbourne.
Port space was at a premium, and with the Asian destabilization lots of people were interested in setting up a foothold running across the Pacific. Getting ships through customs would require the right group of people in the right pockets. Before a ship captain could be convinced, someone needed to be able to sign off on the appropriate paperwork for a release, and Trullins was the man for the job. High up in the chain of authority, any ship that left Melbourne had his signature on its docket. With Walkabout in Xavier's graces, it would be easy to take his pick of captains.
But Walkabout didn't get to where he was on long distance assurances. He was careful. He wanted a face on hand along with his payment in hard currency. Harder to track, easier to launder, and just as hazardous to the buyer if the meet went wrong. Mutually assured destruction made for a more secure exchange, and more security on the gates.
Unlike the trip to Kiev, the case was on the Shortbow in the cabin. Inside was a short list of names of ship captains that would be on site Sunday. Their numbers had been pre-programmed into a phone along with new contact information for Xavier, Hex, and Ze. Beneath those items was a letter from Xavier.

10:05 A.M., Melbourne, Victoria. The weather was clear enough when they landed Friday morning, and the uneventful flight came to an end when the Shortbow taxied into the private hangar on the southern side of the Airport. Registry for the flight listed as VH-KZX had allowed them to bypass the public terminal, and careful planning made sure that a vehicle would be waiting there for them. There were still several hours to kill before the meeting with Trullins, but there were other details that may assist their stay; lodging, planned meals, individual transportation... In the lower hold of the plane were two separate secured crates, one with the three million intended for contracts, and the other keyed for Hex to handle other operational expenses.Strange Hex: Alexandra had briefed Ze on quite a few things. He was young and easily excited and had been psyched about this trip since she'd brought it up to him. She had specific, intricate instructions for him to dial down his excitement. Mostly, she and Ze stayed in their own kind of space. Ze was a tall, somewhat brawny guy with a goofy sort of air about him. No one would ever suspect him capable of doing what he did, and not feel bad about it. He plugged himself into his iPod for most of the flightly while Alexdandra took to reading and updating herself on what information Xavier thought was important, and taking it to memory. Upon arrival, Ze was ushered out of the jet and set to work, collecting the heavy crate while she grabbed both her bag and his and stood on the tarmac waiting for the other two of their party.
Tyrel Hunter: Ty had his bag slung over his shoulder and took up Callie's in the other hand, as he moved through the plane and out. He glanced around as he stepped down onto the tarmac, then glanced back at Callie. She was the one who was used to this operation, he was just along for the ride.
A Spirited Scion: Every operation is different though, even if there are some similarities. Australia for instance. No need for a translator and hopefully she wouldn't hear gunfire on the other end of a phone call to make contact this time around. She followed Ty out of the plane, had a look around. This should be fun. Aside the prospect of making some money, she had Ty to herself completely away from their normal world for a few days and that alone was special. She walked over to where Hex stood. "So, there should be a phone, a set of instructions, and some money for expenses." Gunfire was indeed unlikely. The area was timid by contrast except for the possibility of freakish weather catastrophes. Fortunately the day was still clear, despite the smoke from brush fires off in the distance, but nowhere near threatening their current activities.Strange Hex: Ze loaded the crate into the back of the car they'd be sharing for this length of their jouney. There was a second vehicle at the hotel for them. He also took the bags and added them to the trunk before getting into the driver's seat. Hex turned to Callie and Ty, eyeing them both briefly. "I assume you have all of your arrangements prepared. Ze and I will be at the Glenferrie. If you need anything, just call me. I will see you again before you leave for the buy."
A Spirited Scion: "Yeah, don't worry about us. We'll be just fine. Sooner we meet with the contact, the better." Five hours to go.Tyrel Hunter: "Well just play tourist until we're needed." He nodded, then looked around again, before settling his gaze on Callie. She was the one who knew how this rodeo went, and he'd follow her cues.
Strange Hex: "I'll see you in a few hours." She nodded and turned, heading to the car. The driver's side. "Move it, Ze."
[Ze Tandon]: "What? But I can drive!"
Strange Hex: She narrowed her eyes at him, he moved over withe a sigh of defeat. she hopped into the seat and soon the car was started and the two were outa' there.
A Spirited Scion: "You know, I think I like it better when she's quiet." Quietly commented to Ty. "And.. when she just stays on the plane.."
Strange Hex: Don't hate! Getting situated in their respective hotels, would eat up another hour of the day. Friday would be primarily attunement and preparation for the tasks at hand. Business would be rounding up on the Appleton Docks around 3:00 P.M., more than enough time to review the area around their hotel, and the points of interest for the meet.Strange Hex: There wasn't really any time for relaxation when it came to Alexandra. She and Ze checked into their rooms with their things, unloaded what needed it then met up in her room. They discussed Ze's only job, to keep watch from afar and only shoot if she gave the signal. This discussed while looking over 3D satellite images of the area that the meeting was set to take place. He gave her some idea of the places he was going to scout, then took off with his equipment to scout them in person. He'd message her when he found what he was looking for. That left her time to get ready and arm herself before meeting up with Callie and Ty. She'd be at the main entrance of their hotel when the time came.
A Spirited Scion: No hate, but them leaving like that was kind of annoying. Oh well, Just meant that Ty and Callie could scout for a hotel on their own and actually see what the area had to offer. It made no sense to Callie though to not stay in the same hotel that Ze and Hex were. So that's the one she'd chosen. At least there was time for some lunch and to relax a little. Trullins was supposed to be met face to face at the docks. So, they could go downstairs with plenty of time to travel there in order to meet up with Hex and have their car brought around for them.
Tyrel Hunter: "So when is this meet to happen and how long will you be?" Ty didn't know what to expect, how long Callie would be gone or what the schedule was for the week end, if they had a schedule.
Strange Hex: It wasn't her job to see that Callie and Ty had a hotel. They'd known about this trip for weeks now. Callie was perfectly capable of seeing to that on her own. However, the transportation to and from the meeting was already taken care of. Whenever Callie and Ty stepped outside, Hex was there and waiting with a Lincoln sedan. She donned an all black suit with white button down and thin tie. Hair pulled back to cover the ice blue layered in. Looked like she'd be doing the driving.
A Spirited Scion: "This first one really shouldn't take that long. According to the leter, we should have tomorrow off to do what we want then I'm supposed to try and set up at least one shipping deal on Sunday. I have a list of ship Captains to choose from for that. Do you want to go with me or would you rather hang out on your own?" She saw Hex there waiting, but she'd have to wait just a few more minutes.
Tyrel Hunter: Guess there's no T E A M in team. Ty looked at Callie, an expression of confusion on his face. "We? And why are you setting up a shipping deal? I thought all this was prearranged and you were just making the exchange."
Strange Hex: Hanging out. Not the least bit worried about time.
A Spirited Scion: "This first one is. The guy is expecting me, or, someone anyway."
Tyrel Hunter: "And for the second you have a list of captains to choose from. Captains that have been vetted, or is it another half cocked, half planned thing and names were simply pulled from air?"
Xavier Darnai: Another? Ty's opinion would wound Xavier. If he cared.
A Spirited Scion: "Eh.. I didn't pull them from the air. The list is premade. So, maybe more than half planned.. Like, Eighy percent planned?"
Tyrel Hunter: "I wasn't referring to you. The whole dumping us at the airport, with no plans in place, however... " he shook his head. "Is it always like this when you do these things?"
A Spirited Scion: "Last time she did stay on the plane. I fended for myself without her help once I left her sight. It'll be fine. Trust me?"
Tyrel Hunter: Nodding, he still didn't like the situation, but they were there now and there wasn't anything to be done but carry on. Christ he was going British... He dragged a hand through his hair. "Let's get this done. What do you need from me?"
A Spirited Scion: "Just for you to be with me, that's all." She smiled and held out a hand for his. "Come on. Sonner we get this part done, the sooner I can kidnap you and make you do my bidding."
Strange Hex: Since it seemed as though the lover's spat was over, Alexandra picked up her lean against the car and opened the back passenger's door for the two of them.
Tyrel Hunter: Spat? Hardly. Ty regarded Hex as they ducked into the car, then he settled into the seat, a study given their surroundings, before he looked back at Callie.
A Spirited Scion: Oh, no, that wasn't a spat. They hadn't had one of those in a while. "Alright George. To the docks." Once Hex got back in the car. The trip from the Glenferrie to the Appleton Docks would be a little over ten minutes with Hex behind the wheel. She knew how not to attract attention to herself, and that meant driving with purpose without being a road warrior while behind the wheel of a rather professional looking vehicle. Lights were pushed without being run, tolls had been prepaid, and soon enough they were parked near the field filled with large shipping containers. There wasn't a gate they would need to get through, but there were more than a couple of security booths with men lazily sitting behind the glass in uniform waiting for their shift to be over. Finding Trullins from here would be a matter of asking, or tracking him down in the aisles.Strange Hex: Ty was being a girl about the situation. Ahem. However, it wasn't Alexandra's place to say anything unless it jeapordized their reason for being there. Once the two of them were in the car, she closed the door and rounded the car and dropped down into the driver's seat with a derisive snort to Callie's comment. Xavier really must have had a moment of foggy thought when he recruited this one. The drive was made short, efficient work of and the car pulled into the shipping yard and up to the side of the guard shack. Ze was in place and was already communicating in her ear for what information he'd gathered on guards in passing, how many were armed and if there were any patterns to their routines. Up from the driver's seat after killing the engine, she opened the rear door for Callie and Ty to step out of.
Tyrel Hunter: Ty knew the difference between arrangements being made and having someone wing it. He also knew that all this shit should have been prearranged before the plane ever went wheels up. Ty was liking this situation less and less. Sliding out of the car, he looked around, then at Callie. "So where's our guy?"
A Spirited Scion: "Lovely. Thanks Hex." She slid out of the car, looked around a moment. The description of Trullins was pretty generic in all honesty. "Lets head this way." She went for the nearest security booth.
Tyrel Hunter: "What?" He fell into step with her, a glance around given.
Strange Hex: She took up stride behind the two of them, peering about while listening to Ze.
A Spirited Scion: Brows lifted, she glanced over her shoulder at Hex. "Shouldn't you be.. waiting with the car?"
Strange Hex: Slight rise of her brow, she just shook her head. "I don't stay with the car." The whole point of her going was to make sure that if anything went wrong, Callie and Ty got out safely.
[Gene Trullins]: Men in reflective vests and hard hats were moving away from the pair of rivers that converged around the man-made peninsula, getting ready to end their days while chatting up the days events. Off in the distance a man wearing a black windbreaker could be seen making his way through an empty lot that had been marked off for various containers. He was heading towards the offices on the Southern point.
A Spirited Scion: "Hex.. Go wait with the car. Now. Please."
Strange Hex: Head tilted, she looked at Callie. "Sorry, Miss. I have my instructions and they're not to guard the damn car. If you want to meet up with your man, you better start paying attention to the people moving around."
Tyrel Hunter: Ty just looked between them, and then looked to the men milling about, some heading off, while one, dressed differently from the rest, moved for another area. "Think we got our man." Ty gave them another glance, then stepped away, heading for the man heading for the offices.
A Spirited Scion: "If I'd known you'd be babysitting my every move. I would have had Xavier just send you." She glanced after Ty, following him.
Strange Hex: Alexandra just quirked a grin and followed behind them. She didn't particularly care what Callie thought she knew or didn't know. When discussion of this meeting started, Hex had agreed that one person needed to accompany for safety reasons. Callie could kiss her white Grecian ass.
Tyrel Hunter: And therein lie the problem with the entire operation. Information wasn't passed on to all parties, and arrangements were not made ahead of time. The whole thing felt like an episode of keystone cops about to happen. And Hex's Grecian ass, needed a refresher course on professionalism.
Xavier Darnai: Then they could take it up with the person who laid out the plan when they got back and ask the person that was paying them an obscene amount of money for taking a free trip exactly what his decisions were and why.
[Gene Trullins]: The older gentleman stopped at the door to the offices and tugged at his keyring, using it to unlock the door before slipping inside without so much as a look over his shoulder.
Tyrel Hunter: As they closed the distance to the man, Ty looked at Callie. She knew the protocol for the approach and would leave it to her.
Strange Hex: Ty shouldn't talk about professionalism. This wasn't even his job and he was walking away with Callie. Tch. About that.... Alexandra wasn't going into the office. She'd be standing outside near the door. The tiny mic in her ear was crystal clear as Ze relayed relevent information to her. Dark eyes moved casually, following in general directions of those he listed off wandering the yard.
A Spirited Scion: Inside an office wasn't exactly what she'd wanted with this, but there wasn't another plan at the time. Just as he was about to go inside, Callie cleared her throat to get his attention. "Lovely day for a Walkabout, isn't it?"
[Gene Trullins]: As he rounded behind the desk, the short-haired man looked up and eyed the girl in front of him, crossing his arms of his chest as he sucked in his breath. "G'day, lass. Suppose the Pom sent ya alon'?" His voice was gruff, and he stood there with guarded posture. "So, what would you like to talk about."
Tyrel Hunter: No, it wasn't his job, the fact was only too clear. Ty wasn't thrilled with the situation, at all, but he held his expression neutral, a nod given in greeting as he checked the office out, making note of door ways, windows, security cameras, if any, and then his eyes went back to the man.
[Gene Trullins]: A rear door headed into a hallway, and there was a security camera in the corner to their left behind them, and one to their right ahead. There were windows, but they all had security bars over them.
A Spirited Scion: "My employer is looking to invest in port turnover. I'd like to discuss that with you, if I may?"
[Gene Trullins]: Motioning to a seat across from his desk, he settled down behind it and took a bottle of gin out, setting it on the table in front of him along with a glass. "Have a seat. Port turnovah's quite the commodity. Reckon that he's lookin' to go into a mutually beneficial contract then?"
[Ze Tandon]: C>"Hex, two new guys on the scene. Dressed in all white but their orange button-ups. Look to be of Indian descent. Coming up on the north."
Strange Hex: Nothing changed outwardly. Alexandra continued to watch casually, looking from one place to the next, gaze making its way to north from where she stood. The orange stood out bright enough that she had little problem seeing it. Hands gathered, held casually in front of her by one holding the wrist of the other as a signal to Ze.
A Spirited Scion: "Of course. It wouldn't suit either of you if it wasn't, right?" She pulled out a chair, sat down, comfortably, as if she belonged there.
Tyrel Hunter: Ty settled once Callie was seated, and leaned back, a smile given the man. Other than that and his continued perusal of the office, he was still.
[Gene Trullins]: Unscrewing the cap, he poured a splash of the clear alcohol into his glass before setting the bottle down again and leaning back in his seat. Stroking at his stubble, Gene regarded the girl and the man she was with for a moment before picking up his glass. "I imagine one and a quartah's a reasonable investment, wouldn't you say?"
A Spirited Scion: "I'd say that's more than reasonable." Well within the money that Xavier had planned on. There was no sense in haggling with him. Hopefully he wouldn't be the jackass that Markov was when she'd agreed to a number quickly.
Tyrel Hunter: Ty glanced at Callie, then looked back at the man.
[Gene Trullins]: "Excellent. I believe we can do business then. And who should I mark down as the investah?" Taking a sip of the gin, he set the glass down again before reaching into his desk and pulling out a slim ledger. Setting it on the desk, he flipped it open to a page near the middle, taking out a pen and waiting for a name. "So we can be certain that who evah's movin' the cargo is considered as havin' paid all the propah taxes, of course."
Tyrel Hunter: Ty didn't know what name Xavier would be using for this little enterprise and was idly curious as to what name Callie was supposed to give.
A Spirited Scion: Callie watched the man quietly. Pondering for a moment. Doubt in her head for the first time so far, but this had been arranged, at least in part. "Darnai is the name." She'd spell it out as well, then add. "Xavier."
Tyrel Hunter: That actually surprised him, but he also noted Callie's hesitation. He looked back at the man, and still, said nothing. He may as well have been a fly on the wall. Which by the way, he took to studying.
[Ze Tandon]: C>"They're checking things out, but don't look like they're doing a serious search."
Strange Hex: Her thumb adjusted, coming around from the tender side of her wrist to lay along over the back of the other hand with a subtle shift from foot to foot. There was nothing unusual about her movements. Just looked like she was somewhat bored standing there, but it sent the message necessary back to Ze.
[Gene Trullins]: Jotting down the name, along with the number 1.25, he closed the ledger again and put it back under his desk. Picking up the glass again and taking another sip, he sat back and motioned to her and then the man so intently reviewing the walls of his office. "Alright then, seems like half of the business is done! Just need that investment. I assume you have the cash with you? We do prefeah it that way, makes it easiah to distribute across the docks wheah we need to."
Tyrel Hunter: Ty looked back at Callie, then to the man, before glancing to the barred windows. He wasn't overly fond of barred windows. The hall he kept in his peripheral.
A Spirited Scion: "Of course." Callie stood. There'd been two crates on the plane. One for her. One for Hex. Ze had taken that one, leaving Callie and Ty with the other. She hadn't been carrying anything in her hands, because it was in the jacket she had on. Yes, it was heavy and she'd be glad to get rid of it at this point. She slid the jacket off, turned it inside out, revealing the zippers inside, which she opened, one by one, pulling out small bundle after small bundle, setting them neatly on the desk. The way it was packed didn't make the jacket look like anything but a jacket. He'd said a quarter, so the extra was left inside. "We can wait while you count, if you'd like." Clever girl.Tyrel Hunter: Ty didn't even bat an eye as she started unloading that cash, simply continued to watch the man, their surroundings and the activity outside the windows that he could see.
[Gene Trullins]: "That would be appreciated, nothin' personal, just not one for the Poms." Collecting the stacks for the one and a quarter million in cash, he stood and moved to a large supplies cabinet. Opening it up, there was a money counter inside, and he quickly ran the bundles through. When it all measured up, he turned and gave the two a nod of approval. "Pleasah doin' business with you. You can tell Mistah Darnai he'll see his shipments get the propah treatment comin' through these watahs. If you wouldn't mind seein' yourselves out."
A Spirited Scion: "Thank you very much. It's been a pleasure. I do have one question for you though, if you don't mind?"
Tyrel Hunter: Rising, Ty gave the man a nod, then paused as Callie posed her question, in regard to a question. His lips twitched.
[Gene Trullins]: He had started stacking the bundles with rubber bands again so he could move them to the safe in the back, stopping for the moment as the question came across. "And what would that be, lass?"
A Spirited Scion: "You obviously know the locals far better than either of us do. Is there a Captain or two that might be willing to strike up a contract, or in more of a need for some business to be thrown their way?"
[Gene Trullins]: "Couldn't really say, unfortunately. The ships in port tonight have all loaded up and will likely be sailin' out in the mornin', but we should see a whole new batch comin' in on Sunday. Most of them should be hangin' around early in the mornin' though, you could rightly ask them then."
A Spirited Scion: "I intend to. I was just hoping to have a heads up. See if there was one that might be more open minded over another, that's all." She bowed her head. "Have a wonderful night." Jacket slipped back on, she stepped back from the desk so they could leave.
[Gene Trullins]: "No worries!"
Tyrel Hunter: Ty opened the door and glanced around, as he stepped out, then looked back at Callie.
A Spirited Scion: She smiled up at Ty then glanced around for Hex. Maybe Ze found something for her to do while they'd been in the office.
Strange Hex: Nope. Alexandra was still there, only a few feet away from the door. Hands dropped from how she'd been holding them, she waited for Callie and Ty to head towards the car and followed.
A Spirited Scion: Damn. Aliens didn't swoop down to kidnap her. Oh well. Without a word, she just headed back to the car.
Tyrel Hunter: Head for the car they did, Ty giving the place a good study as they moved. Once there, reached for the door, to pull it open, then waited for it to be unlocked.
Strange Hex: Nope. No aliens. They wouldn't want her, either. The door was keyed unlocked with the remote. Since Ty got the door, Alexandra went to the driver's door, pulled it open and dropped down into the seat, then started the car up and closed the door. Don't worry. She was still keeping an eye on things.
A Spirited Scion: Callie got in the car, buckled up. One part down. One more to go. With the 'investment' paid off, the return trip to the hotel was the next order of business. It would not take long to get back to the Glenferrie, a little over ten minutes, just like the trip out.[Ze Tandon]: Once more Ze was in her ear. The two odd men out spotted the three of them and turned to high tail it out of there.
Strange Hex: A slur of cursing, she geared the car in reverse to pull out and then in drive to get them to the hotel. Ze was watched the two as far as he could before leaving his spot. He was trying to scope what they were driving or if there was any specific building they went into. The two men Ze had been watching made for a car, but headed off in a different direction. Based on where they had been parked, it would be impossible to follow the Lincoln.Strange Hex: Alexandra wasn't going to follow them. Provided Ze managed to get the plate numbers off the car, tracking it down over the course of the night wouldn't be a problem. Arriving at the hotel, she got out of the car and opened up the door for Ty and Callie.
A Spirited Scion: Unbuckled, she got out, nodding to Hex. "Thank you. See you on Sunday morning."
Tyrel Hunter: Sliding out of the car, he reached for Callie's hand, and once she was out, he would lead her into the hotel, he glanced around, one hand reaching up to run over the hair at the back of his neck.
Strange Hex: "Perhaps." Depended on how things went with the two who went running off. The door was closed, she climbed back into the driver's seat to meet up with Ze.
A Spirited Scion: "Did you want to go back upstairs or out somewhere? We're on our own for a while."
Tyrel Hunter: He looked around, then back at Callie. "We can do the tourist thing. At the very least, grab a bite to eat."
A Spirited Scion: "Sounds good." She smiled, stepping closer to him, leaning so she could give him a kiss. "Did you want to call home to check in or no?"
Tyrel Hunter: "Yeah, I should call Jemma, make sure she's okay and see if she needs anything." He pulled his phone and dialed, listening as it rolled to voice. Time difference. He didn't take it into account. He left a message, made sure she knew she could call if she needed anything and that they'd be back in a couple days. Outside their own activities, the evening would be uneventful for the two of them. Trullins had been paid, leaving Callie 1.75 million Australian to 'invest' in a captain, and a second one if she wanted to double her payday.
